This version of the situla, a vessel for the preparation of water-wine mixture was found in Pompeii in the course of excavations. This situla, stands on higher dragon feet and comes from Herculaneum. It was recast in the 19th century in the course of the production of travel souvenirs at the famous bronze foundry Chiurazzi in Naples. Partially copper-plated
and silver-plated.
The situla offered here is listed in the Chiurazzi catalog from around 1870 with the number 287. It dates from this period. Naples 2nd half of the 19th century.
