Fine Pompeian-style scagliola plaque, Naples, 19th century

The central reserve comes from Greek mythology. A galloping chariot is attacked by winged chimeras. The scene is decorated with antique Pompeian-style decorations. Hermes on scrolls decorated with floral motifs, masks and plant elements are grouped in a virtuoso succession. A light blue floral frame forms the edge of this polychrome panel.
